To our young adult patients (and their parents):
As you prepare for the exciting transition to young adulthood/college, it’s important to ensure that your health is well-protected. One significant step in this process is receiving the Meningitis B vaccine, which is crucial for safeguarding against meningococcal disease.
We recommend that all high school students receive two doses of the Meningitis B vaccine (Bexsero is the vaccine we stock in our office). These doses should be administered six months apart to provide optimal protection. This is particularly important for college-bound students, as the close living quarters and social settings on campuses can increase the risk of meningitis transmission.
Because you will have your well visit scheduled for late winter/spring/summer, we strongly encourage you to schedule a nurse visit at our office to receive your first dose of the Meningitis B vaccine because there will not be enough time otherwise to receive both doses before August/early September. You can then conveniently plan your second dose six months later.
Please contact our office at 203-227-3674 to arrange your vaccination appointments. Our team is committed to ensuring you are prepared and protected as you embark on this new chapter.
Thank you for prioritizing your health. We look forward to assisting you in this important aspect of your transition to adulthood.
